State lawmakers claim they don't know what we want them to do. They told the ABQ Journal, “Do you want more education cuts? Do you want the rich to pay their share of taxes? We can't get a feel for what you want us to do.” AEAA knows what to do. We’ll share it with EAs, CSLs, CSAs who attend area legislative update meetings in February.

PLEASE, contact your state senator NOW! Tell her or him, "Raise revenues by making the rich pay their fair share of state income taxes. The rich pay 4.5%, I pay 10.8%."

A scientific poll of 400 registered voters randomly selected from across New Mexico reveals what voters want their state lawmakers to do to balance the budget deficit:
- 88% say do not cut education.
- 70-49% say do raise new revenues.
- 43% say they're less likely to vote for lawmakers who cut education.

According to a Legislative Finance Committee study, Educational Retirement Board (ERB) fund and Permanent School Fund investments last year were bad enough to rank them among the worst performing funds of their kind in the nation. But, beginning July 1, state lawmakers are going to force education employees, who earn more than $20,000 a year, to pay more of their much-needed spending money into the ERB by raising retirement deductions.
