Demonstration at the State Capitol Friday, October 9
Print E-mail

September 2009

Dear EAs, CSLs and CSAs,

October 9 - EAs, CSLs and CSAs will travel to Santa Fe. October 9 - EAs, CSLs and CSAs will march from the Santa Fe Rail Runner station to the State Capitol.

October 9 - EAs, CSLs and CSA will tell their state senators and representatives: “No more student funding cuts !” “No job cuts.” “No lay-offs.”

If lawmakers cut the student value again, APS will be forced to lay-off EA, CSLs and CSAs. Last January, lawmakers cut the preK-12 student value by $30. This $30 cut may not sound like much, but it hurt students. It also hurt school employees. That $30 cut was absorbed by EAs, CSLs and CSAs who retired or quit. They were not replaced. Another student funding cuts will mean layoffs for EAs, CSLs and CSAs. It's time to push the panic button!

Cutting each student’s value was wrong in January. More cuts is double-wrong. The only thing EAs, CSLs and CSAs can do to stop lawmakers from cutting the student value again is a huge demonstration at the State Capitol October 9. We have no choice but to pull together. Please put your lives on hold October 9 and get your selves to Santa Fe at the State Capitol. We must demonstrate our support for NO CUTS !

October 9th must be successful or students will be harmed and our jobs will be cut.

Make your plans now to go to Santa Fe with me on Friday, October 9.

Thanks,
Kathy Chavez, President
