Identify your state senator and state representative
Print E-mail

Identify your state senator and state representative. You'll need your 9-digit zip code to get started.

If you don't know your 9-digit zip code, then click here and enter your home address on line 1, then enter your city, state and 5-digit zip code. Then, click on the link labeled "Look up Zip + 4".

If you know your 9-digit zip code, then click here to begin the process of identifying your state senator and representative, their addresses, phone numbers and email addresses.

When you have completed most of the process, you'll see your REPRESENTATIVE AND SENATOR in Washington, DC. You don't need to contact these politicans now. You need to contact the state lawmakers who represent your neighborhood.

To identify your STATE SENATOR AND REPRESENTATIVE you will have to click on the STATE tab. Then, you will see their names. Put your mouse pointer on names and click.

Then, you should see addresses, phone numbers. Some have email addresses. Copy all information.

There isn't much time before Oct. 17, but a phone call is the most effective thing you can do now. Emails are good, too.

Whatever you decide to do, do it quickly and cover the following points:

  1. Tell them who you are, where you live and your phone number.
  2. Tell them you're a registered voter, and that you live in their districts.
  3. Tell them you appreciate the hard work they've done for education in the past.
  4. Tell them to vote NO on student value cuts on Oct. 17.
  5. If they say there are no other choices, tell them......there are 2 better choices: 1. roll back tax cuts for the richest New Mexicans. 2. close tax loophholes for Wal Mart, Target, Starbucks and other out-of-state corporations.

Plan on going to the State Capitol Saturday, October 17, to see if they did what you told them to do. Any lawmaker who votes YES on student value cuts must be replaced November 2010.
